About The Position

This position is Under the direct supervision of the CJIS Manager I, this position is responsible conducting research on multiple databases to ensure all desired or required information is received in its entirety and is accurate. This position must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;
  • Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;
  • Ability to read and interpret law enforcement data; and
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting in-depth research for accurate and complete criminal justice information by utilizing internal and external data bases or making contact with other criminal justice agencies to ensure all information received is complete and accurate;
  • Analyzing reports for discrepancies and identifies potential problems in criminal history records;
  • Monitoring and resolving criminal history records submission errors;
  • Contacting criminal justice agencies for source documentation to support additions, deletions, and modifications;
  • Making modifications to electronic systems as necessary;
  • Resolving difficult, unusual, or questionable issues in the review and processing of criminal justice information;
  • Assisting with electronic arrest submissions to ensure timely and accurate processing of records;
  • Assisting in training new members; and
  • Maintaining various logs and records of the requests received and processed.
