About The Position

Work involves developing, implementing, and administering victim programs/services; providing crisis counseling; providing referral services; and interfacing with community organizations involved in crime victim services. This is a grant-funded position and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funds year by year. Knowledge/experience in obtaining/maintaining grants a plus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No criminal history.

  • Articulate writing and verbal skills.
  • Good interpersonal relations.
  • Good character.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Compassion and ability to empathize with crime victims.

  • Conversational Spanish speaking ability.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and communicate with victims/witnesses.
  • Assist victims with victim impact statements and explain their legal rights as a crime victim.
  • Assist victims in obtaining financial/counseling assistance via the Attorney General’s office.
  • Provide a basic level of emotional support to victims.
  • Act as an escort for court/appointments.
  • Serve as the primary contact within the D.A.'s office for victims.
  • Assist victims with protective orders.
  • Assist prosecutors with collecting restitution for victims.
  • Keep victims updated as to the status of their cases.
  • Organize and participate in ceremonies honoring victims of crime.
  • Perform detailed victim data entry into a computer system.
  • Capture statistical data for grant purposes.
  • Enter all contact information/data into a computer system.
  • Maintain confidential victim files.
