About The Position

Crewperson 3 is directly responsible to the Supervisor and must possess the necessary knowledge and demonstrate worthy skills in the designated trade. They should be able to carry out assignments and perform work of good quality with minimum supervision. This role requires punctuality, appropriate appearance, and the ability to perform all assigned duties and work scheduled hours unless approved leave is obtained. Employees must report to work dressed appropriately and professionally. Additional duties may be assigned by the Supervisor. The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the job position as needed, including hand tools, related power equipment, SMART boards, iPads, and basic office equipment. Travel between schools and central offices is required.

Requirements

  • Possess the necessary knowledge and be able to demonstrate worthy skills in the designated trade.
  • Ability to carry out assignments and perform work of good quality with minimum supervision.
  • Perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
  • Report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the job position as needed.
  • Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment.
  • Ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine.
  • Comply with WPS guidelines for equipment use.
  • Ability to perform all tasks and work the hours required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  • Ability to wear proper safety equipment as required while performing the various responsibilities required for this position.
  • Attendance at required meetings and in-services.
  • Exposure to chemicals, solvents and contaminated trash, grasses, pollens, etc.
  • Frequent lifting 20 to 50 pounds; occasional lifting 50-100 pounds; lifting over 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Work in high places on ladders and/or lifts.
  • Work in standard office and school building environments.
  • Work in wet and dusty conditions.
  • Working overtime on short notice is mandatory.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written in order to communicate with others inside and outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a Supervisor when their discretion is needed.
  • Ability to perform as an effective team player.
  • Ability to plan, organize, make decisions and prioritize work to meet the daily demands of the building.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Display a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Exhibit a professional manner and a positive attitude.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Use good judgment to make decisions on recurring assignments.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Follow instructions for assembling furniture.
  • Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors.
  • Work under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks.
  • Work with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Exhibit a professional manner and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues.
  • Accept the responsibility for assisting with the training, skill development and supervision of other team members.
  • Assist in maintaining good public relations, being cognizant that a Crewperson 3 represents both the Facilities Division and the Wichita Public Schools.
  • Cooperate with other employees and maintain good public relations inside and outside his/her assignment.
  • Display willingness to be trained in all phases of the assignment and to increase his/her skills, thus, qualifying for advancement.
  • Possess a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer service.
  • Maintain a valid Kansas driver's license at all times throughout employment.
  • Possess superior knowledge of procedures, material and equipment utilized in the designated area while displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadership.
  • Support the organizational goals, the mission of the School Service Center and the district.
  • Work cooperatively with others and assist in maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Work directly or indirectly under the Supervisor.
  • Assist in hauling, delivering, setting up and tearing down furniture, stages, risers and other program equipment and items as needed.
  • Ability to drive large box trucks and assemble furniture.
  • Perform snow removal operations as required.

Nice To Haves

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
