About The Position

The City of Missouri City is hiring a full-time Crew Leader in the Public Works Department. This position supervises and leads a crew performing street and drainage repairs and maintenance, ensuring work is accurate and completed on time. The role reports to the Streets Superintendent. The Crew Leader performs administrative duties, coordinates and assigns crew work, operates light- and heavy-duty equipment, and provides employee training and evaluations. The position is an essential employee role, subject to 24-hour recall and emergency operations assignments before, during, and after natural or man-made emergencies to maintain continuity of City services.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
At least five years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Perform administrative duties, including contract administration, processing work orders, procuring materials and equipment, assigning crew work, and ensuring proper use of safety equipment.
Complete drainage maintenance, including excavating ditches, cleaning and clearing drains, setting pipes, de-mucking lakes, and spreading sand.
Repair curbs, inlet aprons and tops, potholes, and sidewalks; seal cracks; adjust inlets; replace wheelchair ramps; and perform street mud-jacking.
Maintain shoulders and rights-of-way, cut grass, and lay new concrete.
Operate light- and heavy-duty equipment as needed, including Gradall, bulldozers, track hoes, lawn mowers, backhoes, concrete mixers, water pumps, and cutting torches.
Respond to emergencies by providing traffic control or barricades, sanding bridges, cutting and removing fallen trees, removing roadway debris, and setting out signs.
Train employees in the safe and proper use of light- and heavy-duty equipment.
Complete employee evaluations.
Remain subject to 24-hour recall and perform essential employee duties before, during, and after emergencies or disasters.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
