About The Position

The Crew Leader II leads a team responsible for maintaining and installing City of Temple streets, rights-of-way, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, traffic signs, pavement markings, and other related infrastructure. The position works under the general supervision of the Street Services Foreman and ensures work complies with state standards. Duties vary by crew assignment and include supervising employees, operating equipment and vehicles, performing field work, coordinating resources, and communicating with the public. The role also participates in an on-call rotation for after-hours and emergency situations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience in work related to the crew.
One year of experience as a crew leader or supervisor.
Class A CDL and related endorsements, or ability to obtain them within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

Direct and support crews performing street, alley, right-of-way, forestry, concrete, crack-sealing, and traffic-sign work, depending on crew assignment.
Supervise and assist with installing and maintaining City sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and other concrete structures.
Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, and skid steers, and operate vehicles such as dump trucks and haul trucks with trailers.
Use hand tools and perform manual labor to complete assigned tasks.
Deploy traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barricades, at work sites as required.
Update the Foreman on planned work progress and problems.
Interact with the public regarding concerns and follow up as assigned.
Respond to emergency situations, including oil spills and frozen streets.
Assist other crews as needed.
Ensure policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are followed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
