Crew Leader - Wet Utility, Richmond Area
About The Position
The Utility Foreman is a full-time, non-exempt position located on the job site, reporting to Superintendents & Project Managers. The schedule is Monday – Friday, with some Saturdays required. This role involves excavating trenches for water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer, installing trench boxes, and operating equipment safely. The foreman is responsible for ensuring proper excavation and compaction procedures, maintaining equipment through daily inspections and greasing, and demonstrating a working knowledge of underground utilities. Additionally, the role includes managing quality control, production, and training team members hands-on.
Requirements
- Must be able to communicate directly with clients
- 1 year of experience or more with wet utility
- Must be able to operate large excavators with precision
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Ability to access secured facilities

Responsibilities
- Excavates trenches for water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer
- Installs trench boxes as necessary
- Operates equipment in compliance with Muller's safety policies and OSHA procedures
- Ensure proper excavation & compaction procedures are performed
- Ensures all equipment is maintained by performing daily equipment inspections & grease equipment at required intervals
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of underground utilities
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required to complete the job
- Manage quality control and production
- Train team members as needed in a hands-on manner
