About The Position

As a Tree Climber with SavATree, you’ll be a key member of the General Tree Care Team, performing a variety of tree care tasks, including pruning, removals, and cabling. You’ll use your expertise in climbing, pruning, and safety to support the health and beauty of clients’ landscapes. The Crew Lead position offers additional responsibilities for people who demonstrate leadership qualities and want to guide a team.

The role involves outdoor physical work, including climbing, lifting, and performing tasks in a variety of weather conditions. Crew members work with industry-leading equipment and climbing gear as part of a team that emphasizes quality and safety.

Requirements

• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Authorization to work legally in the U.S.
• Passion for outdoor work and commitment to environmental stewardship.
• Proficiency in proper pruning techniques for large shade trees and ornamentals.
• Strong knowledge of tree and shrub species and their characteristics.
• Comfort climbing without spurs.
• Skill in adhering to tree care safety standards.
• Experience with chainsaws, aerial lifts (bucket trucks), and other essential tree care equipment.
• Expertise in proper pruning cuts, branch collars, and chainsaw operations for trees up to 50 feet.
• Familiarity with ANSI A300 Pruning Standards and ANSI Z safety guidelines.
• Ability to perform aerial rescues and apply various climbing techniques.
• Ability to work with a diverse range of tree species, including oaks, maples, hemlocks, and pines.
• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely perform climbing and aerial work in varying conditions.
• Experience with tree removal, including knowing when to use ropes or spikes for safe takedown.
• Physical stamina for climbing, lifting, and outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality tree care services, including pruning, removals, and cabling for trees and shrubs.
• Climb trees safely using proper techniques, ropes, a saddle, and ladders.
• Operate chainsaws, aerial lifts (bucket trucks), and other tree care equipment.
• Apply ANSI A300 Pruning Standards and ANSI Z safety practices in all tasks.
• Make proper pruning cuts and use techniques that preserve tree health and structure.
• Assist in tree removals and use ropes, spikes, and other equipment as needed for safe takedowns.
• Identify hazards and perform safety checks before, during, and after each job.
• Perform aerial rescues if necessary.
• Communicate with team members and clients to support excellent service and safety.
• Contribute to a positive, safety-focused team culture.
