About The Position

Landscapers By Nature Ltd. (LBN) is seeking a Maintenance Crew Lead to manage grounds maintenance service contracts throughout the year. This role involves supervising a crew of laborers, operating various tools and equipment, and providing daily progress reports. LBN emphasizes a strong team culture, fun work environment, and continuous improvement. The position is full-time with seasonal fluctuations, offering day work only with start times around 6:30 AM. The pay scale ranges from $24 to $28 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 full years (Summer and Winter) experience in the landscape/grounds maintenance industry.
  • Class 5 Driver's License and the ability to drive a truck and trailer.
  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools safely and responsibly.
  • Effective communication skills – ability to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, and complete daily reports.
  • Time management skills.
  • A good attitude and the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools, and equipment for landscape/construction practices.
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods and perform strenuous physical tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers, including labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Perform lawn care duties such as cutting grass, trimming edges, cleaning up, blowing trimmings, and fertilizing.
  • Conduct snow removal operations during the winter season.
  • Spray areas to control weeds.
  • Perform general gardening tasks.
  • Operate power equipment including lawn tractors, mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, chain saws, Kabota's, Skid Steers, and snow blowers.
  • Supervise crew members to ensure proper safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Inspect all work for quality to ensure customer satisfaction and eliminate re-work.
  • Train crew members on proper and safe job methods.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist in other job-related duties, including construction projects, shop and yard maintenance, and vehicle/equipment maintenance.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork daily, such as time and service record forms, equipment inspection forms, and site inspection forms.
  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned areas.
  • Ensure all work activities are carried out safely and efficiently, complying with company PPE standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations.
  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner.
