Requirements

  • Must be a current Busch Gardens Tampa, FL Full Time Entertainment Technician.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a theme park/theatrical/event environment with specific training, functional operation/implementation and repair preferred in at least three of the following areas: Lighting, Staging, Video, Audio, Equipment Repair (moving lights, pumps, motors, fixtures, pneumatics), Rigging, Carpentry, Scenic Artistry, Logistics as a technician.
  • Knowledge of technical theater, including but not limited to: theatrical rigging, theater safety, audio and lighting systems, special effects, video, theatrical scenery and drapery, set decorating, scenic and prop construction, maintenance and repair.
  • Timeline of experience must be detailed on resume to be considered for this position.
  • Able to lead and oversee the work of other Entertainment technicians for builds, prep, installs, strikes, operation, maintenance, etc of shows and/or events as needed.
  • Capable of creating and implementing designs in their area of expertise, lighting, audio, scenic art, carpentry, etc.
  • Hands on capability to operate technical equipment, perform technical functions, maintenance and inspections of technical elements and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Be capable of successfully interacting with various entertainers, technicians, outside contractors, entertainment and park staff, and personnel from other departments.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, display respect for others, perform all duties with a positive attitude and demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, be willing to increase their personal development, and positively influence employees and vendors/contractors.
  • Be able to work flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends for preparation and operation of events, shows, rehearsals and other performances or technical duties as needed/required.
  • Must be comfortable operating computers and computerized control systems used in theatrical performances.
  • Ability to make safe/guest-centered decisions quickly while communicating with your leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • BA in Technical Theatre, Theatre Arts, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • The ability to work at a height of 80ft is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment and interact with others in a professional manner.
  • Capable of consistently performing as a technical Crew Chief for shows and/or events.
  • Design work (plots, drafting, installation, programming, etc) in area of expertise, as requested if required.
  • Under the guidance of leadership, independently spearhead projects and lead teams toward accurate and timely results as needed/required, regardless of discipline.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures, Draft documents or process layouts that others may use for troubleshooting.
  • Draft schematics or floor layouts of venues or events, as requested if required.
  • Work with Production team, outside contractors and vendors during show or project installation, and rehearsals or event.
  • Stay active on current technology within your specialty and seek out opportunities to share knowledge with other ambassadors.
  • Train or oversee the training of techs on show or specific install/strike SOPs, or any other activity performed by Entertainment Technicians.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Assist Stage Manager with overseeing technical personnel for shows/events install / rehearsals, and performances and provide assistance with technical expertise and support.
  • Assist the Stage Manager and Theatrical Services team with completing venue/event maintenance and inspections of theatrical equipment, updating SOP’s and training instructions, troubleshooting technical issues and equipment.
  • Communicate tech training, install/strike and crew coverage needs with primary schedulers of techs for show, venue, or Consumer Events crews.
  • Communicate with Stage Managers / Theatrical Services Team and maintain daily log for show, events and venues of technical issues, concerns or deviations.
  • Maintain all safety protocol and procedures and ensure necessary inspection forms are filled out on time and correctly and completely.
  • Provide daily and/or weekly update(s) of status of technical issues, concerns, training for the show/event and venue.
  • Provide feedback to techs on technical performance and technical issues to Stage Manager/Show Manager.
  • Work in coordination with the show production/management team of Stage Managers, Show Performance Captains/Trainers.
  • Review live and taped shows for performance feedback, especially relating to technical elements and tech tracks (where applicable)
  • Provide technical support and service for all departmental needs and perform other functions as directed by management for the good of the Department and Park.
