About The Position

As a Crematory Operator, you are responsible for correctly receiving and processing remains and returning them to the family. You may also assist with transporting the deceased from nursing homes, hospitals, residences, or coroner's offices to the funeral home. As a funeral home representative, you are expected to remain composed in challenging situations and interact with compassion and kindness.

The role involves respectfully carrying out all tasks in the cremation process, maintaining the crematorium and its equipment and adjacent facilities, checking documentation and visual identification, prioritizing and completing multiple tasks promptly, following safety practices, and delivering or releasing cremated remains to the appropriate funeral home or family member.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be able to safely lift 100 pounds.
• Valid state-issued driver's license and a clear driving record.
• Effective communication skills.
• High levels of compassion and integrity.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent follow-up skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

• Crematory operator certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for the deceased respectfully while performing tasks involved in the cremation process.
• Maintain the crematorium, equipment, and adjacent facilities.
• Receive remains and ensure documentation and visual identification are complete and accurate.
• Prioritize and promptly complete multiple assigned tasks.
• Promote a safe work environment by practicing universal precautions and general principles of safe conduct.

• May assist with transporting the deceased from nursing homes, hospitals, residences, or coroner's offices to the funeral home.
