The Credit team is looking for a bold, compassionate, and focused Credit Officer II to review and decision small business loan applications in a centralized environment for complex loans. In this role, you will focus on providing loan decisions and/or credit recommendations based on all underwriting criteria, collaborating with the Sales team to develop loan structures that meet the needs of the customer and adhere to the organization’s risk appetite, and assisting and mentoring teammates through the loan decision process. As a Provide and Fifth Third Bank team member, you will be responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. You will be accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensuring that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the risk appetites of Provide and Fifth Third Bank, you will be expected to achieve results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of experience in underwriting, portfolio monitoring, or similar business loan analysis
  • Basic knowledge of commercial lending and credit standards, policies, procedures, and products
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate concepts verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in accounting, finance or economics
  • Familiarity with Fifth Third’s internal applications

Responsibilities

  • Spread financial statements based on information provided in the loan package
  • Analyze global cash flow and balance sheets for SBA loans of up to $5 million
  • Prepare written evaluations of customers’ financial conditions and future outlooks, identifying risks and mitigation
  • Assist and mentor fellow team members in Credit and Portfolio Monitoring
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for process improvements and software development
  • Identify and review all necessary due diligence items
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of loans with loan originators and effectively communicate loan decisions
