About The Position

The Credit Intern works as a member of the Credit Team during Summer 2027 and is exposed to different areas of the Credit Services department, including Auto, Construction, Aircraft, Small Business, Commercial, Specialty Vehicle, Truck/EEF, and International Business. This paid internship is anticipated to last 10 to 12 weeks, with flexible start and end dates, and an anticipated 40-hour work week from Monday through Friday. The position is on-site in South Bend, Indiana. Program activities include an orientation kickoff and networking opportunities with other interns, colleagues, and senior management; activities are anticipated and subject to change.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Proficiency in MS Office software, including Excel and Word.
Good organizational skills.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple competing tasks and demands.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Pursuing a career in banking.

Responsibilities

Learn the basics of commercial lending and credit underwriting.
Assist with obtaining credit information.
Perform credit file maintenance, request and review financial information, and complete additional research as required.
Assist with periodic financial reviews of current customers.
Attend Credit Committees as an observer to learn about the credit approval process.
Complete reports and/or projects assigned by management by the identified deadlines.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Complete compliance training related to the position.
