About The Position

Patriot Bank is undergoing a significant transformation in its credit, data, and risk management functions, driven by modern technology, automation, and analytics. This role offers a unique opportunity for a sharp, ambitious Credit Analyst to be instrumental in rebuilding the credit function. The position involves building systems, dashboards, and models for portfolio management, with direct visibility to executive management and the Chief Credit Officer. It is an ideal launchpad for a recent graduate with strong technical, analytical, and communication skills who wants to build a career in banking and credit. The Credit Analyst will lead in-depth analysis and reporting on the Bank’s loan portfolio, play a key role in monthly credit reporting, credit policy development, and strategic decision-making. The role emphasizes programming, automation, and data science, using data from the Bank’s core system (Fiserv) to produce automated, actionable reporting. A key early project will be establishing a daily “Portfolio Health” dashboard and developing advanced models for credit performance forecasting and monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, a physical or biological science, or a related field.
  • Superior proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including macros and pivot tables), Python, R, and automated SQL data extraction.
  • Strong proficiency across Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, and related tools).
  • Experience with Python coding and data-science libraries (e.g., pandas).
  • Demonstrated ability to automate reporting and data extraction.
  • Experience with — or strong interest in — data-science techniques including statistical modeling, static pool analysis, regression, and trend analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills with a resourceful, independent approach.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Automate Data Extraction & Transformation: Analyze, segment, and report on loan portfolio performance using data extracted from the Bank’s core system.
  • Develop automated data-extraction processes from core systems to support recurring and ad-hoc reporting, including the Chief Credit Officer’s monthly report, using Python scripts.
  • Build expert-level command of the Bank’s loan data architecture and core-system reporting tools.
  • Perform Advanced Credit Risk & Statistical Analysis: Maintain and enhance a daily “Portfolio Health” dashboard summarizing key metrics and trends (delinquencies, non-accruals, risk-rating migrations, portfolio concentrations, Annual Review / Tickler completion rates, line-utilization rates, and new loan activity).
  • Develop tools, including AI-assisted methods, to safeguard data integrity across portfolio reports and core systems.
  • Build Predictive Models: Develop models that strengthen the Bank’s early-warning and portfolio-monitoring capabilities.
  • Apply data-science techniques (static pool analysis, cohort modeling, regression, and other statistical methods) to identify trends and forecast credit performance.
  • Integrate the CoStar portfolio-management platform and Abrigo underwriting tools to automate trend notifications to senior management.
  • Visualize & Communicate Portfolio Insights: Create clear, actionable visualizations and dashboards that bring portfolio metrics and trends to life.
  • Draft high-quality memos and documentation supporting credit policy, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory reporting.
  • Help build an AI-driven credit-policy system that links policies and concentration limits into a single source of truth, with automated update suggestions based on regulatory directives.
  • Conduct targeted research to support portfolio assessments, policy development, and regulatory analysis resourcefully and quickly.
