About The Position

The Credit Analyst is responsible for managing all facets of credit and accounts receivable relationships with an assigned portfolio of Advance Auto Parts commercial customers. The Credit Analyst conducts high-level financial and/or public record credit analysis on new or existing customer accounts to provide credit and terms approvals. Success in this area will involve delivering consistently current credit information regarding the financial status of their assigned portfolio, keeping credit files current for accounts with substantial credit exposures, and providing portfolio analytics to Credit Leadership. The results of effective performance will be maximizing sales opportunities and minimizing credit losses while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field preferred
  • 3 years financial statement credit review analysis experience (prior collection and developing reporting on metrics experience a plus); or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping procedures
  • Proficient credit and financial statement analysis skills
  • Effective collections, issue resolution, deduction management, and negotiation skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel (PeopleSoft A/R experience is a plus)
  • Communications expertise and a proficient telephone manner
  • Collaborative attitude, as well as strong analytical and investigative skills
  • Ability to work with customers in sometimes difficult and confrontational situations
  • Good interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning abilities
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of credit issues

Nice To Haves

  • prior collection and developing reporting on metrics experience a plus
  • PeopleSoft A/R experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate credit capacity of prospective customers by compiling financial information, credit rating agencies, bank & trade references, payments history data, and interpreting financial trends
  • Research company history of prospective customers and investigate industry trends
  • Resolve customer claims and disputed items
  • Provide guidance to functional counterparts in operating units and management on matters involving exposure and risk associated with accounts receivable relationships
  • Place accounts on credit hold as necessary
  • Establish credit limits for prospective customers based on analysis and customer need
  • Recommend to Manager and approve credit limits up to assigned credit authority
  • Monitor credit limits of existing credit relationships
  • Respond to internal and external requests for credit information
  • Process credit applications, including contacting credit references and setting credit limits
  • Minimize losses due to bad debt
  • Communicate with Field Operations and Commercial Sales Teams regarding account status and credit actions taken
  • Maintain credit files and update as required
