About The Position

Fitch is seeking an Analyst to cover Natural Resources and related Energy and Natural Resources (ENR) sectors, based in New York, Chicago, or Toronto. The role offers the opportunity to serve as a lead coverage analyst at a global rating agency. The successful candidate will analyze the quantitative and qualitative factors that influence companies’ credit quality, maintain financial models, and work with senior analysts on management meetings and internal credit rating committee materials. The position also involves evaluating other credits within Corporates and related credit groups. Fitch emphasizes intellectual curiosity, clear communication, productivity, results orientation, and collaboration in a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience, especially coverage or knowledge of Natural Resources sectors.
• Expertise in Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change.
• Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

• CFA or CPA designation, or candidacy for the CFA.
• Capital markets and/or credit analysis experience.
• Keen interest in Natural Resources industries.
• Solid financial statement analysis skills.
• Interest in deepening exposure to and understanding of debt capital markets.
• A strong pattern of leadership and the ability to proactively and successfully interact with stakeholders inside and outside the organization.

Responsibilities

• Analyze key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing the credit quality of companies in the Energy and Natural Resources sectors.
• Maintain comprehensive financial models.
• Participate alongside senior analysts in meetings with ENR industry management teams.
• Help senior analysts prepare presentations for internal credit rating committees.
• Participate in evaluating other credits within Corporates and related credit groups.
