About The Position

UMB Commercial Banking & Lending provides a comprehensive solution to commercial organizations of all sizes. On this Credit Analyst team, you gain the knowledge and skill to understand UMB’s Commercial lending philosophy. You will gain broad understanding of loan processes and gain the skills needed to grow your career in UMB’s Commercial Lending team. As the Credit Analyst Sr, you will analyze commercial borrower's credit standing and account relationships with UMB and their specific industry through the creation of spreads and write-ups. This Senior Credit Analyst role will be assigned complex loan write-ups and will guide the training of less experienced analysts by providing timely review and appropriate feedback to the analyst and to the department manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, finance or accounting
  • Minimum of 6 hours of accounting
  • 2-yeasr credit analysis or other applicable accounting or financial services experience
  • Demonstrates mastery and proper application of financial analysis skills
  • Proficient in all credit analysis skills, with the ability to handle complex credit write-ups
  • Ability to appropriately provide constructive feedback to peers
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows
  • Demonstrates ability to work with diverse teams that encompasses all levels of associates from various areas of the Bank, by phone and in person
  • Demonstrates strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Capital Stream and Loan Accounting Systems

Responsibilities

  • Generate formal credit write-ups which analyze a commercial borrower’s creditworthiness and account relationship with UMB. This does include independently completing spreads, financial analysis, industry analysis, relationship description & profitability analysis and written narrative for the same.
  • Become the department subject matter expert in at least one lending vertical (i.e. agricultural analysis, oil & gas (energy) lending, shared national credits, commercial real estate or others).
  • Assist the department manager in the development and maintenance of training materials for the department; the management of the department workflow and assign incoming requests to analysts as needed; and provide backup to the overall management of the department when the manager is out of the office or as requested.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reports correctly and on-time. This includes but is not limited to: Board Report, Reg O, and Supervisory Loan to Value.
  • As available, there is potential for further development opportunities by satisfactorily completing working Rotations through other bank partner departments including but not limited to: Commercial Underwriting, Strategic Asset Management, Loan Administration, Loan Review, Business Banking Underwriting, Capital Markets, etc.
