About The Position

CoBank interns gain real-life exposure to the daily duties of their group, spending the summer as a valued member of their respective team. They learn business skills and assist with a variety of projects that impact the bank’s operations. A key focus for the summer intern will be to complete a capstone project that seeks to add value to the team they are supporting. This internship provides a pathway to our full-time Credit Analyst Program (CAP) upon graduation. The role is hybrid, requiring interns to come into their designated office at least 3 days a week. Interns work approximately 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in and working towards a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Agribusiness, or a related discipline and in good academic standing.
  • Expected graduation dates between December 2027 and May 2029.
  • Basic understanding of balance sheets, income statements and cash flows.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Aptitude for learning other software applications.
  • Ability to perform research across multiple systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Experience in agriculture, banking, or financial services industry.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze balance sheets, cash flow, profitability, liquidity, and solvency statements for commercial credit reports.
  • Engage in a range of portfolio management tasks, including addressing compliance, finance, legal, and closing-related issues.
  • Develop analytical skills through hands-on training, mentorship, and support from a network of peers.
  • Complete a capstone summer project, which may involve industry research, portfolio analysis, market snapshots, or general economic outlooks.
  • Engage in market research, sustainability initiatives, and loan documentation support for the Power, Energy & Utilities (PEU) team.
  • Spread financials.
  • Analyze financials.
  • Build workbooks.
  • Write credit reports.
  • Participate in credit training.
  • Attend customer visits / events as available.
  • Conduct research for capstone presentation.
  • Complete other research projects based on office needs.
  • Network and learn about other divisions within CoBank.
