The Commercial Credit Analyst II works independently to complete complex, objective high quality credit analyses to facilitate sound commercial credit underwriting and the assessment of the quality of the commercial loan portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven working knowledge of accounting principles, commercial loan documentation, banking regulations and computer applications.
  • 3-5 years of experience working as a Credit Analyst in a financial institution.
  • Ability to work independently and develop consultative relationships with Commercial Lending Team.
  • Proficiency with multiple computer applications, specifically word processing, spreadsheet and database management software.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and complete work in the timely manner.
  • Proven analytical abilities to analyze data and suggest recommendations.
  • Must have good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of Bank personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to build analytic models in Excel to look at key portfolio indicators would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze financial statements, collateral analysis, debt repayment and real estate matrixes that are used to prepare spreads, cash flows and written credit analyses on more complex prospective and existing commercial borrowers. Quantifies credit risk by recommending an appropriate risk rating. Responsible for deals that have a high degree of complexity. Ability to research industry trends and risks. Provides guidance for line lending personnel by recommending loan structure and identifying policy/regulatory exceptions and offering solutions. Ability to draw accurate and realistic conclusions and making timely decisions based upon available information.
  • Performs annual analyses of large borrowers to determine appropriateness of the current risk rating based in part on financial trends, cash flow, adherence to covenants and collateral adequacy.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced analysts and/or new hires.
  • Meets with new Commercial Lending Team members to educate them on the underwriting process and requirements at AB.
  • Familiarity of various Agency loans and ability to recognize a loan structure and/or borrower who would benefit from Agency involvement.
  • Orders appropriate appraisal and/or evaluation reports, when necessary.
  • Participate in borrower meetings, make direct inquiries for borrower information.
  • Works independently with limited supervision and produces narrative reports that will have limited review. Makes recommendations to improve processes or guidelines in the Credit area.
  • Supports the Credit Department on projects as necessary.
  • Participate or lead in major department projects and take an active role in driving quality improvements, processes, and initiatives. May be assigned technical or in-depth projects that require a high degree of knowledge, judgment and experience.
  • Attend weekly Management Credit Committee meetings and confidently discuss their analysis of the proposed financing specifically strengths and weaknesses of the request or relationship as needed.
  • Complies with all banking related laws and regulations communicated to the employee through training and/or written correspondence and those requirements reflected in the Bank's policies and procedures applicable to the employee's duties and/or areas of responsibility. Protects all customer information and institution assets and complies with privacy and acceptable use policies.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Credit Manager.
