About The Position

Cornerstone Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst II/Senior to assess the creditworthiness of potential commercial loan customers, including payment terms and credit limits, and identify special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment. This role involves completing loan applications, including credit analyses and credit memorandums, and submitting them to loan committees for approval. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and a passion for financial analysis. This position offers the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of community banking operations and play a critical role in the commercial loan credit approval process. Responsibilities include processing credit applications, initiating inquiries into customer references, generating financial ratios to evaluate customer financial status, and comparing financial data with industry benchmarks. The role also involves monitoring credit risk, maintaining customer credit files, reviewing credit histories, assisting with credit policy implementation, preparing risk assessment reports, and recommending payment plans.

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Suntell document imaging system.
  • Experience with core banking system (Fiserv).

Responsibilities

  • Assess the creditworthiness of potential commercial loan customers, including payment terms and credit limits.
  • Identify special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment.
  • Complete loan applications, including credit analyses and credit memorandums.
  • Submit loan applications to loan committees for approval.
  • Process credit applications.
  • Initiate inquiries into customer bank and trade references.
  • Generate financial ratios to evaluate customers' financial status.
  • Compare liquidity, profitability, and credit histories of establishments being evaluated with those of similar establishments in the same industries and geographic locations.
  • Monitor the credit risk associated with customer accounts.
  • Establish and maintain customer credit files/database.
  • Review customers’ credit histories.
  • Assist with the establishment and implementation of credit policy.
  • Prepare reports that include the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Evaluate customer records and recommend payment plans based on applicable data.
