The Credible Messenger program is a non-clinical care support and case management program that aims to assist high-risk justice-involved youth and their families living in Hartford with their identified needs related to behavioral health, substance use, medical care, housing, education, employment, legal matters, transportation, benefits, family support, and other activities of daily living. The goal of the program is to reduce re-arrests for the youth while connecting them to prosocial supports and education within their community. The Credible Messenger position works directly with the youth on their goals as well as while completing administrative, programmatic, triage, and documentation responsibilities in accordance with program and contract expectations. The Credible Messenger position is a good fit for those who: Have lived experience with the justice system and/or who have personal roots within the city of Hartford CT. Knowledge and familiarity with the neighborhoods of Hartford and the challenges and needs of youth living in this area is preferred. Have experience with and enjoy building trust and rapport with high-risk justice-involved inner-city youth and their families. Have knowledge of local resources available to youth in the city of Hartford Have experience with collaborating with Juvenile Probation Officers or the court system Enjoy working in the community and in clients’ homes, as opposed to an office-based position Prefer a flexible work schedule with non-traditional hours, including some evenings, and being available to youth and their families outside of traditional hours. Are motivated and take initiative to support and advocate for disadvantaged youth. Who are creative and persistent in their strategies to engage reluctant youth in the program
