About The Position

The Credentialing Specialist ensures that the credentialing of healthcare providers is conducted in accordance with organizational policies, operational procedures, and applicable governmental and regulatory agency regulations and standards. This role is moderately active, involving sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, facility, and potentially travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. The work involves using many physical motions, subject to exposure of body fluids, and requires repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment. Strong mental faculties, keen assessment and decision-making abilities, superior communication skills (written and verbal), emotional stability for high-stress levels, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines are essential. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations are required, as is the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships. The specialist must possess superior customer service skills, professional etiquette, and proficient knowledge of computer use (keyboard proficiency), MS Outlook, and Word, as well as other office technology. The role requires appropriate clinical judgment and the ability to apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the Medical Staff Credentialing field.
  • Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
  • Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
  • Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
  • Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Secretarial Science or related field preferred.
  • Certification as a CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) preferred.
