About The Position

The Credentialing Coordinator ensures that Medical Staff Services functions effectively and efficiently in meeting physician needs. This role is responsible for ensuring that credentialing applications for all medical staff and allied health professional staff are complete and in accordance with hospital bylaws, while adhering to Joint Commission standards and state regulations. The coordinator must maintain the confidentiality of all information and continually seek opportunities to expand services. This includes updating and maintaining systems to identify medical staff members and their clinical privileges, processing initial and reappointment applications in a timely manner, and ensuring all necessary documentation such as DEAs, malpractice insurance, and Kentucky licenses are current. The role also involves providing temporary medical staff privileges as requested and establishing and maintaining application, data bank, profile, and other necessary files.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years’ experience in a medical staff office setting
  • CPMSN and CPCS credential is required or must be eligible to sit for exam within (3) years from date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that credentialing applications for all medical staff and allied health professional staff are complete and in accordance with hospital bylaws while adhering to Joint Commission standards and state regulations.
  • Updates and maintains systems to identify medical staff members and their clinical privileges.
  • Ensures that initial applications and reappointment applications to the medical staff and allied health professional staff are processed and completed in a timely way to facilitate decision making by service chiefs, the Credentials Committee, the Medical Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors.
  • Ensures that all DEAs, malpractice insurance, and Kentucky licenses are current for all medical staff and allied health professionals as required by the hospital bylaws and Joint Commission standards.
  • Provides temporary medical staff privileges as requested, adhering to hospital bylaws.
  • Establishes application, data bank, and profile files and other files and records as necessary and ensures that they are kept current.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all subjects read, heard, or typed.
  • Continually looks for opportunities to expand services provided.
