About The Position

The Credentialing Coordinator provides administrative and credentialing support to the Medical Staff Office and Medical Staff Committees. Responsibilities include supporting the credentialing, recredentialing, and privileging of Medical and Allied Health Staff; maintaining credentialing records and required documentation; supporting Medical Staff meetings, including agenda preparation and minute taking; responding to routine inquiries; and performing general administrative duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Two (2) years of administrative support experience
  • Ability to type at least 50 words per minute
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prepare reports and professional business correspondence

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital Medical Staff Office experience
  • Medical Staff credentialing experience
  • Experience preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes
  • Experience with MD-Staff software
  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Credentials new applicants to the Medical Staff and Allied Health Staff, including processing requested privileges and preparing Board letters.
  • Recredentials members of the Medical Staff and Allied Health Staff, including processing requested privileges and preparing Board letters.
  • Maintains proctoring status for members of the Medical Staff and Allied Health Staff associated with assigned departments and committees.
  • Maintains and updates privileges granted to members of the Medical Staff and Allied Health Staff associated with assigned departments and committees.
  • Tracks and maintains expirable documents for members of the Medical Staff and Allied Health Staff, including professional licenses, DEA registrations, malpractice insurance, TB documentation, influenza documentation, and other required credentials.
  • Verifies current competence at appointment and reappointment by comparing activity reports with established criteria for requested privileges.
  • Supports Medical Staff meetings, including preparing agendas, taking and preparing meeting minutes, and completing required follow-up.
  • Maintains information and records related to Medical Staff functions.
  • Prepares and maintains confidential credentialing files for applicants and members of the Medical Staff and Allied Health Staff.
  • Maintains custody and organization of Medical Staff meeting minutes and related records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
