About The Position

fal is the generative media ecosystem powering the next generation of AI products. We build the infrastructure, tools, and model access that teams need to move from idea to production, and do it at scale without compromise. For developers and enterprises, fal is the foundation that makes generative media not just possible, but practical: a unified platform where high-performance inference, orchestration, and observability come together to unlock new categories of AI-native products. As generative media reshapes industries across a market projected to grow by hundreds of billions over the next decade, fal is becoming the ecosystem that ambitious teams build on. We’re looking for a Creative Technologist who thrives at the intersection of design, engineering, and emerging technology. This role is equal parts builder, experimenter, and storyteller—someone who can prototype ideas quickly, explore new tools (especially AI), and turn abstract concepts into compelling, interactive experiences. You’ll collaborate across design, product, and engineering to bring ideas to life—from scrappy prototypes to polished demos—while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

Requirements

Strong hybrid skillset across design + engineering
Proficiency in at least one programming language (JavaScript, Python, etc.)
Experience with creative coding, interactive media, or frontend development
Familiarity with AI/ML tools (e.g., generative models, APIs, or agent workflows)
A portfolio of creative technical work (interactive projects, prototypes, experiments)
Ability to move quickly from idea → prototype → iteration
Strong taste in design, UX, or visual storytelling

Nice To Haves

Experience with frameworks like Three.js, React, or WebGL
Background in motion design, 3D, or game engines
Experience working with APIs and backend systems
Familiarity with tools like TouchDesigner, Unity, Blender, or similar
Experience building with or integrating AI models (LLMs, diffusion, etc.)

Responsibilities

Prototype creative ideas rapidly using code, AI tools, and design software
Build interactive experiences, demos, and proof-of-concepts
Explore and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI, real-time media, webGL, creative coding)
Collaborate with designers and engineers to translate concepts into functional outputs
Develop internal tools or experiments that inspire new product directions
Contribute to storytelling through technical demos, visuals, and interactive content
Stay on top of new tools, frameworks, and creative trends
