About The Position

Colorado PERA is seeking an innovative and experienced Manager of Creative Services/Graphic Design and Video Services to lead the organization’s visual communications strategy and creative services operation. This position serves as PERA’s senior creative professional and executive producer, responsible for developing compelling visual storytelling through professional video production, graphic design, multimedia, live event production, and creative direction. Video production is the primary responsibility of this position. The Manager of Creative Services oversees every stage of video production—from creative concept development and script writing through filming, lighting, audio, editing, motion graphics, color correction, and final distribution. The ideal candidate combines the technical expertise of a television news photojournalist, producer, or broadcast professional with the creative vision of an experienced graphic designer and studio leader. In addition to leading PERA’s video production capabilities, this position manages the organization’s graphic design function and ensures consistent, high-quality creative products across print, web, digital platforms, publications, presentations, social media, and member communications. The Manager supervises PERA’s Graphic Designer and Video Services team and serves as the executive producer for Board of Trustees meetings, employee meetings, town halls, webinars, and other enterprise events. The Manager of Creative Services plays a critical role in translating complex retirement, investment, and organizational information into clear, engaging, and accessible visual communications that support PERA’s mission and strengthen connections with members, employers, retirees, Trustees, and employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Video Production, Broadcast Journalism, Film Production, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Multimedia, Communications, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in video production, broadcast journalism, multimedia production, creative services, graphic design, or related creative disciplines.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience supervising employees or leading creative teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise producing professional-quality video from concept through final delivery.
  • Experience directing and producing live, multi-camera broadcasts and livestream events.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition.
  • Experience operating professional cameras, lighting, audio, switching, and livestream production equipment.
  • Strong understanding of video engineering principles, codecs, compression, streaming platforms, color management, media workflows, and production technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, shoot, edit, produce, and deliver compelling video content for multiple audiences and platforms.
  • Experience with still photography including, professional executive and employee photos, events and products.
  • Demonstrated expertise managing professional print and digital publications that effectively communicate complex information.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop.
  • Experience designing and preparing digital and print files for production.
  • Experience creating motion graphics and designing visual assets for websites and digital campaigns/properties.
  • Possess a strong understanding of visual layouts and hierarchy, design principles, and overall brand management.
  • Excellent storytelling, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into plain language materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects while maintaining exceptional quality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with executives, Trustees, employees, vendors, and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Communications Director, lead the creative vision, strategy, and execution of PERA’s visual communications.
  • Develop innovative visual storytelling approaches that support organizational priorities and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure creative products consistently reflect PERA’s brand identity and commitment to professionalism.
  • Manage multiple creative projects simultaneously while balancing deadlines, resources, and organizational priorities.
  • Serve as PERA’s executive producer for professional video and live production activities by leading all phases of production, including: Creative concept development and storyboarding, Script writing and interview preparation, Field production and directing, Camera operation and cinematography, Professional lighting design, Audio recording and mixing, Motion graphics and animation, Video editing and post-production, Color correction and sound design, Final mastering, encoding, and distribution.
  • Produce high-quality video content supporting: Executive communications, Board communications, Member education, Employer outreach, Internal communications, Employee training, Recruitment, Public affairs, Social media.
  • Plan, direct, and produce live and hybrid broadcasts of: Colorado PERA Board of Trustees meetings, Employee meetings and town halls, Executive presentations, Organization-wide events.
  • Serve as technical director for live productions by managing: Multi-camera production, Camera switching, Audio mixing, Graphics integration, Streaming platforms, Recording systems, Production workflows, Technical troubleshooting, Broadcast-quality standards.
  • Operate, maintain, and recommend investments in professional video production equipment and emerging technologies.
  • Apply advanced video engineering principles to ensure reliable, high-quality image, audio, lighting, streaming, and recording standards.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of professional visual communications, including photography and motion graphics, across print, video and digital channels.
  • Provide creative direction and quality control for all graphic design products.
  • Maintain and evolve PERA’s visual identity and brand standards across all communication channels.
  • Ensure creative materials meet professional publication standards for an $80 billion+ financial institution.
  • Supervise and develop PERA’s Graphic Designer and Video Services team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Establish production schedules, priorities, and team workflows.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented creative environment.
  • Partner with Communications leadership to establish annual creative strategies and priorities.
  • Manage relationships with external creative and production partners, including: Production companies, Freelance designers, Photographers, Motion graphics specialists, Creative agencies, Equipment vendors.
  • Develop project requirements, oversee vendor selection, manage deliverables, monitor quality, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
