About The Position

This is a temporary assignment for a Regular Full-Time Creative Officer position until July 7, 2027. The role requires daily on-campus, in-person work and is considered a critical replacement vacancy. The Creative Officer, under the supervision of the Manager, Creative Services, will lead the development and execution of creative solutions across graphic design, motion graphics, videography, and photography to enhance the brand identity in both print and digital formats for promotional, recruitment, marketing, and event purposes.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary 3 year diploma/degree or equivalent in an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience in a combination of graphic design, motion graphics, photo and/or video production
  • Advanced understanding of design tools and platforms, including Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere, with aptitude to learn new software and programs expertly and effectively
  • Keen eye for design and excellent understanding of design principles
  • Strong understanding of designing artwork for multiple platforms and uses (i.e. traditional print, outdoor advertising, mobile and the web)
  • Strong knowledge of and experience using a DSLR Camera to take still photos and shoot video
  • Expert knowledge of mobile photography and videography
  • Strong asset management and organizational skills including ability to tag, reference, organize and archive assets
  • Comprehensive awareness of current and emerging design, social media, and technology trends
  • Tech-savvy and a passion for all things multimedia from hardware (cameras, lights, etc.) to software
  • Excellent communication, organizational, team building, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus, as required.
  • Transcripts are mandatory as a condition of employment.

  • In-house creative experience is an asset
  • Experience with lighting, audio recording and production in the field and studio is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Analyze client needs to create and produce print, video, and animated content that conveys the Fanshawe brands’ voice and message.
  • Design, produce, and edit professional quality print & digital materials.
  • Create storyboards and execute on them.
  • Develop motion graphics and animations.
  • Create, edit, and source images for ads, creative assets, social media, and website.
  • Produce, coordinate, and project manage video development.
  • Assemble optimized final output files in print and media formats.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal clients on corporate, brand, and product marketing.
  • Research, develop, and execute creative concepts aligned to the brief and established brand style guidelines.
  • Understand AODA requirements as they apply to print and video design, including the creation of accessible PDF documents.
  • Take creative feedback and adapt projects accordingly.
  • Finalize creative look & feel of concepts and adapt to necessary formats (event materials, advertising, website, etc.).
  • Articulate design decisions based on project goals, established design strategy, and knowledge of design theory.
  • Provide advice, direction, and review the workflow of work-study students.
  • Provide technical support for the Reputation & Brand Management department as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and research ways to creatively capture marketing ideas, staying updated with emerging trends and technology.
  • Provide internal clients with professional guidance and expertise in print and multi-media.
  • Interact with internal clients, external vendors, and RBM to provide professional guidance and assistance.
  • Attend meetings individually and actively participate in giving presentations.
  • Provide job/print costing requirements as needed.
  • Provide livestreaming & webinar support for various corporate events as needed.
  • Provide feedback and art direction to clients to reorient off-brand materials.
  • Maintain YouTube channel for video content, create and organize playlists, upload and provide links for the website and portal.
  • Maintain and organize creative asset storage (photographs, b-roll, logos, etc.) following documented processes.
  • Work with Manager, Creative Services on project details and scheduling, identifying and communicating process issues.
  • Act as backup for project intake process & creative queue.
  • Provide assistance with event preparation, set-up, dismantling, and overall support during special events and recruitment functions.
