About The Position

Opportunity: Propel seeks an experienced Creative Arts Classroom Advisor to join our amazing team at Propel Schools. Propel schools operate with an extended school year to increase learning time and opportunities for our scholars. We have 190 instructional days (10 more than traditional school districts) and 8 professional development days to better support our staff for a total of 200 work days annually. The CCA will work directly in the classroom on a daily basis with the artist, providing classroom management, and assisting in activities. Since the CCA stays in the same building throughout the year, s/he should be able to adapt to a different artist group every six to twelve weeks. The CCA is able to assist the visiting artist with lesson plans and provide guidance in a subject matter s/he is not familiar with. The CCA finds possible ways that the arts can be integrated with other areas of the curriculum. The CCA should have strong classroom management skills and know different behavior intervention methods. S/he should have been trained on the behavior management program that the school utilizes. The CCA is able to help the artist to understand how the behavior methods are used. The CCA will work with visiting artists on grading each student. He will work with the artist to use the rubric created for CreativeArts classes to ensure grading is done fairly. The CCA will facilitate collaboration meetings between visiting artists, teaching artists, art teacher and music teacher. The CCA should have experience working in the classroom with students and have an interest in the arts. If you are interested in receiving your teacher certification, we have two available pathways through our in-house Teacher Residency Program. For candidates without a bachelor’s degree, we offer support to attain your degree and receive a teacher certification. For candidates with a bachelor’s degree, we have an in-house residency program to complete qualifications for teacher certification.
