Creative and Editorial Lead

Bedrock Robotics•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Bedrock is seeking a Creative and Editorial Lead to build the storytelling engine behind its brand. Working closely with brand, communications, and marketing leaders, this senior, hands-on creative generalist will set the editorial direction and quality bar for company publishing. The role turns customer proof, technical progress, and field stories into editorial content, video, and digital campaigns that establish Bedrock as a defining voice in autonomous construction and physical AI. The Creative and Editorial Lead will write and edit high-stakes work, uncover and develop stories, create original concepts, and guide creative teams from idea through final delivery. The role will build editorial standards, workflows, and production capabilities to enable high-quality work at volume and grow an in-house creative and editorial studio. In collaboration with communications strategists and a PR agency, the role will help extend Bedrock’s stories and strengthen its market presence. Periodic travel to customer sites, active jobsites, production shoots, and selected industry events is part of the work.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in editorial, creative direction, brand writing, content strategy, journalism, media, agency creative, entertainment, digital production, or a comparable storytelling discipline.
  • Ability to connect audience insights, business priorities, customer evidence, and cultural relevance into work that earns attention and changes perception.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn complicated, unfamiliar, or technical material into clear, surprising, credible, and compelling stories.
  • Ability to learn complex subjects quickly, ask strong questions, and earn credibility with contractors, field crews, technical teams, customers, and company leaders.
  • Experience guiding creative work across multiple formats and channels, including developing concepts, writing strong briefs, giving clear feedback, managing production, and directing agencies or freelancers.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to personally write, edit, interview, shape, and ship important work.
  • Strong project leadership and operational discipline, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams, create structure from ambiguity, and move quality work from start to finish.
  • Collaborative, low-ego working style.

Nice To Haves

  • A portfolio is helpful but not required.
  • Relevant work may include editorial writing, brand and campaign work, customer storytelling, executive narratives, journalism, video, documentary, television, digital media, or creative-production leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own Bedrock’s editorial strategy, storytelling pipeline, publishing cadence, and quality bar across owned public channels and formats.
  • Create a high-volume, high-quality stream of work that expands public presence, brand awareness, trust, and category leadership.
  • Personally write, edit, interview, develop concepts, and complete a meaningful share of early editorial and creative work.
  • Develop editorial standards, writing guidance, review criteria, production practices, and workflows that ensure work is consistently on brand and distinctive.
  • Lead creative and editorial direction for customer testimonials, case studies, web and blog content, technical explainers, white papers, executive thought leadership, presentations and keynotes, social content, video, campaigns, and other high-visibility brand moments.
  • Translate complicated technical ideas into clear, memorable, and persuasive narratives without oversimplifying them or relying on generic technology marketing language.
  • Develop recurring editorial franchises and signature formats, including potential customer field stories, technical explainers, documentary-style content, and original perspectives on construction and physical AI.
  • Use market, audience, and competitive insight from the Insights function to prioritize story opportunities, editorial formats, campaigns, and creative work.
  • Lead external agencies, freelance writers, designers, photographers, filmmakers, producers, and specialist partners from briefing through final delivery.
  • Over time, build and lead a lean internal newsroom and creative studio, potentially including writers and editors, a producer, and a flexible bench of freelance and agency partners.
  • Travel periodically to customer sites, active jobsites, production shoots, and selected industry moments to find stories firsthand, direct field creative work, and ground storytelling in the reality of construction.
