About The Position

The Crate Shop Associate will be responsible for, but not limited to, functions pertaining to framing or over packing products for shipping, while meeting customer/Kenco standards, adhering to all company policies and ensuring Best Practices are used throughout the crate shop.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one-year related experience and/or training in construction-oriented business using saws, measuring devices, and various pneumatic tools.
  • A minimum of one-year experience and/or training operating a forklift truck in a distribution environment.
  • Basic computer skills and data entry ability required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all outbound orders in the Crate Shop staging area are segregated: international, domestic, and by shipping priority
  • Take measurements to determine size and quantity of wood needed for each project
  • Determine style of crate to be used for each request, keeping safety of both transporters and the product into consideration
  • Overpack or frame product for shipping by building and assembling the frame/packaging and storing properly
  • Design crates that will effectively protect product during storage, handling, and transport
  • Operate various hand tools, power tools, and equipment including such as table saw, circular saw, router, pneumatic nail gun, and drill
  • Audit for damage and crate each Individual multi-pack product for storage and shipping
  • Move damaged parts to a damage location and complete all paper work needed for Materials Deficiency Report (MDR)
  • Responsible for recording weights and dimensions of finished product
  • Document and keep appropriate records of all materials and time required to complete individual packages
  • Receive assignments from the Packaging Supervisor and complete them within the discussed time frame
  • Follow Timber Products Inspection Standard Quality Control Procedures and Wood Packaging Material (WPM)/ Heat Treated (HT) Program
  • Responsible for maintaining and servicing all Crate Shop equipment
  • Communicate and report any incidents
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • May be required to operate a forklift or order picker for picking orders
