About The Position

This key production role is responsible for overseeing the crating process and the loading and shipment of our products. This includes managing workflow, prioritizing tasks based on the build scheduler, and leading the loading of trucks according to destination and carrier requirements. The Crate Lead will collaborate with other shop leads, logistics, management, manage inventory levels, and ensure all equipment is maintained. They are also responsible for developing and communicating procedures, tracking work, and promoting departmental organization and morale.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in crating or related fields.
  • Ability to measure and cut insulation accurately.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work using job schedules and work orders.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to lead and motivate staff.
  • Willingness to learn, and be coachable

Responsibilities

  • Use priority list provided by shift supervisor, and truckload schedules to prioritize tasks and manage workflow.
  • Maintain high-level of communication with Logistics coordinator
  • Banding curbs onto each skid
  • Organizing truckloads into specified lanes based on the truckload scheduler.
  • Log completed work on the CDI website and prepared items for crating.
  • Crater cutting skids pre-cuts, and fabricated skids for all curbs containing non-flat walls before the curb is insulated.
  • Load trucks based on carrier and destination.
  • Communicate and coordinate with production supervisors and other shop leads to set the pace and manage daily flow.
  • Assist with the development of processes and procedures.
  • Respond quickly to return items, and send out in a timely manner
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, organization of finished goods, and inventory
  • Ensure compliance with processes and procedures by communicating them effectively.
  • Manage inventory levels of insulation, lumber, and miscellaneous materials maintaining proper minimum and maximum levels of materials within the department.
