About The Position
Givens is hiring a Crate Builder to build crates and other wood packaging according to customer specifications. The role involves assembling custom wood packaging, placing and securing products and machinery, protecting products with wrapping and padding, and applying bands and customer identification. The position is based in Chesapeake, Virginia, and is temp-to-perm, full-time, with pay of $15.00–$16.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Ability to operate a saw, chop saw, drill press, band saw, and nail guns.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Quality control is essential.
- Basic math skills are required.
- Must have a high sense of urgency and safety awareness.
- Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Build crates, skids, and custom wood packaging products according to customer specifications.
- Assemble materials using pneumatic nail guns, screws, bolts, glue, and various hand tools.
- Place products in wood containers manually or using a forklift or crane.
- Bolt heavy machinery to the bottom of a box or skid.
- Wrap and pad products with foam, plastic, and foil barriers.
- Wrap and tighten metal or polyester bands around crates using banding equipment.
- Attach identification stencils or labels as required by the customer.
