About The Position

American Equipment Holdings is a leading overhead crane solutions provider in the United States, committed to customer and employee care. We are seeking Experienced Crane Service Technicians (Level 3 through Master level) to join our team. This advanced-level position requires strong mechanical and electrical skills for complex inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and installations on overhead cranes and hoists, including systems with advanced auxiliary components. Advancement is based on demonstrated skills, experience, performance, and certifications. Technicians at all levels perform field service, repairs, and inspections on overhead cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment. Level 3 – Service Technician responsibilities include working on complex 3-motion cranes with auxiliaries, demonstrating advanced knowledge of VFDs, troubleshooting uncommon brake systems, assisting in project estimating, explaining AC control circuit principles, diagnosing mechanical systems, rigging and installing new cranes and hoists, mentoring junior technicians, and communicating effectively with customers. Level 4 / Master – Service Technician responsibilities include strong knowledge of AC/DC theory, troubleshooting 480VAC 3-phase motor control systems, experience with VFDs and PLC programming, leading complex repairs and installations, mentoring technicians, and interfacing professionally with customers.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Experience in crane service or industrial maintenance.
Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments.
Minimum 2 years of hands-on electro-mechanical maintenance experience (or equivalent military experience).
High aptitude for both electrical and mechanical work environments with strong familiarity of mechanical and electrical equipment.
Proof of right to lawfully work in the United States required.

Responsibilities

Perform complex inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and installations on overhead cranes and hoists, including systems with advanced auxiliary components.
Work on complex 3-motion cranes with auxiliaries such as roto hooks, encoder closed-loop systems, exotic brakes, and all brake types.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Troubleshoot and repair uncommon brake systems (e.g., Whiting SESA and Magnetek thruster brakes).
Assist in project estimating (scope, labor, and parts requirements).
Explain AC control circuit principles, including Ohm’s Law and voltage drop.
Diagnose mechanical systems (wheels, bearings, reducers) and support basic operation of vacuum lifters, magnets, and load rotators.
Rig and install new cranes and hoists.
Mentor and support junior technicians.
Communicate effectively with customers and maintain detailed service documentation.
Troubleshoot 480VAC 3-phase motor control systems.
Perform PLC programming.
Lead complex repairs, installations, and troubleshooting across all crane systems.
