About The Position

The Crane Operator operates an overhead traveling crane to transport lifts to and from common carriers and storage areas. The role includes positioning coils, identifying them with tags or other markings, and working with a dispatcher to locate, mark, separate, and hand coils. The employee checks and reports crane conditions, keeps equipment and storage areas clean, and follows the PTC Quality Management System, plant safety rules, and PPE requirements. The position requires 3 to 6 months of experience on this or related work and has no direct reports.

Requirements

3 to 6 months of experience on this or related work.
Ability to exercise judgment while operating a crane.
Ability to operate variable controls on an overhead crane.
Ability to abide by plant safety rules and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

Check all equipment before the start of the shift.
Operate the crane to transport lifts to and from common carriers and storage areas.
Operate up under to position coils.
Work with the dispatcher to locate and mark coils for proper identification using tags, stickers, stencils, or similar methods.
Work with the dispatcher to operate the job hoist to separate and hand coils.
Perform daily checks and report crane conditions to the Foreman.
Use a broom, shovel, rags, or similar items to keep equipment and the storage area clean and orderly.
Carry out duties in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and applicable policies, procedures, and work instructions.
