About The Position

The Crane Operator operates an overhead traveling crane to transport lifts to and from common carriers and storage areas. The role involves positioning coils, identifying and marking coils with tags, stickers, or stencils, and working with a dispatcher to operate a job hoist to separate and hand coils. The operator checks equipment before each shift, reports crane conditions to the Foreman, and keeps equipment and storage areas clean and orderly. The position shares responsibility for product and service quality and follows the PTC Quality Management System, including applicable policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Requirements

• Three to six months of experience on this and related work.
• Judgment when operating a crane.
• Ability to operate variable controls on an overhead crane.
• Ability to meet the described physical demands, including occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to follow plant safety rules and personal protective equipment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Check all equipment before the start of the shift.
• Operate the crane to transport lifts to and from common carriers and storage areas.
• Operate under and position coils.
• Work with the dispatcher to locate and mark coils for proper identification using tags, stickers, stencils, or similar methods.
• Work with the dispatcher to operate the job hoist to separate and hand coils.
• Check and report crane conditions daily to the Foreman.
• Keep equipment and the storage area clean and orderly using a broom, shovel, rags, or similar items.
• Carry out duties in accordance with applicable PTC Quality Management System policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Share responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to customers.
