About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking Maintenance Crane Operators for work in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. The position operates an overhead crane to move objects, components, and materials. This is a non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman. Duties are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. No per diem is provided.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferably one to two years of experience in the specified skill.
• Complete a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation, and sign acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
• Comply with company and client job-site safety requirements.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
• Ability to stay awake, alert, and aware of surroundings.
• Ability to perform the physical activities listed in the posting, including lifting 30 to 50 pounds and wearing a respirator and other PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operate an overhead crane from a cab to move materials through accessible areas.
• Receive verbal communication from employees indicating where the crane is needed.
• Use hand levers to control crane functions.
• Perform daily crane inspections and report unsatisfactory findings to the Foreman.
• Read and interpret load charts.
• Understand and respond to hand signals from employees in the work area.
• Read and sign off on the JSA.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by a supervisor.
