About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking a Crane Operator with NCCER or NCCCO certification for a position in Norco, LA. This role involves operating an overhead crane to move objects, components, and materials. It is a non-exempt position that reports to the Foreman, with duties assigned according to specific procedures and frequent work checks. The company is a fully diversified industrial contractor focused on providing solutions to increase plant production, reduce costs, and prevent shutdowns in industries such as petrochemical, refining, energy, and pulp and paper. Requirements

  • NCCER or NCCCO certification required (small hydraulic fixed cab, large hydraulic swing cab cranes)
  • NCCER or NCCCO certification, rigging and signal person
  • Verifiable industrial experience in assembly/disassembly and operation of all four types of cranes
  • Selection and inspection of rigging hardware used in routine lifting such as synthetic & wire rope slings, shackles spreader bar, rolling blocks, chain hoist, come-a-longs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of alternative lifting/load movement methods such as gantries. jack & sliding, bull rigging, etc.
  • Working knowledge of proper attachment of all types of rigging hardware used in routine lifting
  • Knowledge and skills required for planning and executing lifts in an industrial setting and acting as Assembly/Disassembly (A/D) director for all buyer cranes
  • Must have a valid TWIC card
  • Must have a valid state issued Class A CDL driver's license
  • Must be able to pass drug test as well as a background check
  • Must be able to operate 2.5 ton to 160 ton
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment qualification test if applicable
  • Must be able to pass post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Must adhere to job site "Personal Protective Equipment" requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Read and sign off on JSA
  • Stays awake, alert and is aware of surroundings

Responsibilities

  • Operates an overhead crane to move objects, components, and materials.
  • Operates overhead crane from a cab.
  • Receives verbal communication from employees where location of crane is needed to move materials throughout accessible areas.
  • Uses hand levers to control functions of the crane.
  • Performs daily inspection of the crane.
  • Reports any unsatisfactory findings to the Foreman.
  • Reads and interprets load charts.
  • Understands hand signals for communicating with employees in the work area.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
