About The Position

At ABB, we help industries run leaner and cleaner. This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for operating process equipment or machinery to convert raw materials or semi-finished parts into components or finished parts for a final product at the right time and with the required quality. The role involves executing assigned tasks according to agreed workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines, reporting any non-compliance. The operator will also operate machines in accordance with the operating manual, work schedule, and/or production order instructions. The Crane Operator must be able to perform essential functions for a minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, and ABB will discuss and attempt to provide reasonable accommodations if an employee is unable to perform these functions.

  • Must be able to identify different types of material.
  • Must be able to read some measuring devices.
  • Must be able to communicate with various personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Operate process equipment or machinery to convert raw materials or semi-finished parts into components or finished parts.
  • Execute assigned tasks according to agreed workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines.
  • Report any non-compliance.
  • Operate machines in accordance with the operating manual, work schedule, and/or production order instructions.
  • Read Work Order and Production Schedule and match coil tag to Work Order.
  • Operate Overhead and Jib Crane, hoist, electric material hand truck (Big Foot), computer for printing labels and scanner to receive and issue coils.
  • Move racks of slit coils from slit line to locations or to presses from locations using the overhead crane.
  • Move master coils to coil car at slit line and to unload master coils off trucks using the Jib Crane.
  • Unload slit coils from turnstile at slit line using the hoist.
  • Place inventory tags and write information on slit coils.
  • Move racks of material from one side of Lamination Dept. to the other side using the electric material hand truck (Big Foot).
  • Scan material in and out of locations for inventory purposes using the scanner.
  • Enter information into the computer for inventory purposes and printing coil tags.
  • Identify different types of material and read some measuring devices.
  • Communicate with slit line operators, supervisor, auto press operators, die setters and material handlers.
  • Assist in putting racks away and unloading arms or trucks as needed.
  • Perform daily cleanup at the end of the shift.
