About The Position

Atkore is seeking an experienced Crane Operator for its facility in Harvey, Illinois, approximately 30 miles south of downtown Chicago. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Crane Operator transports coils within the building between trailers, rail or transfer cars, storage, slitters, and slitter mandrels. The role also involves recording coil and storage-location information and supporting production and shipping operations. The ideal candidate has at least two years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience with lean manufacturing or a business-system-based company is a plus. The position is on third shift and pays $25.95 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential. The operator should be available to work overtime when needed and must pass the post-offer employment process, including a drug screen. Within three and six months, the employee is expected to make progress on or complete job-specific training, become well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of the role to daily operations, and gain a basic understanding of required duties and job expectations.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experience in industrial manufacturing.
Crane operator experience.
Ability to pass the post-offer employment process, including a drug screen.
Availability to work overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

Transport coils by crane inside the building between trailers, rail or transfer cars, storage, and production areas.
Record coil and storage-location data, including entering coil and location information into the computer in the crane cab when moving or transferring product.
Mark coils with spray paint.
Enter information into computer systems to print coil tags and log materials into the plant.
Transport coils between the warehouse and transfer cart.
Supply slitters and mills with steel.
Load master coils onto the slitter mandrel.
Unload the slitter recoiler and Bliss Press, and transport slit coils to the specified location.
Reband coils.
Prepare shipping documents.
Visually inspect the crane for defects and report defects to the supervisor.
Complete job-specific training and develop familiarity with Atkore's Business System and job expectations.
