About The Position

The Crane Operator/Utility secures and moves product throughout the shop using an overhead crane or forklift, and performs general shop and shipping-related duties. The role includes emptying chip and flux hoppers, assisting with truck loading and unloading, managing trash and scrap dumpsters, and covering Shipping/Receiving when needed. The position also involves daily housekeeping and may require handling heavy equipment loads and performing in-house shipping duties.

Requirements

• Proficiency in hitching and slinging, including knowledge of sling capacities at various leg angles.
• Physical stamina and strength to remain on foot and moving for most of a ten- to twelve-hour workday.
• Ability to perform moderately to heavily exertional tasks frequently, including stooping, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing, sometimes in confined spaces.
• Good vision, depth perception, and physical coordination.
• Ability to climb onto truck beds and equipment while loading and securing loads, and while handling shipping duties.
• Proficiency operating a forklift.
• General knowledge of Shipping and Receiving.
• Ability to operate a vehicle and load and tie down heavy equipment in compliance with DOT and general safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Secure and move product across the shop using an overhead crane or forklift.
• Dump all chip and flux hoppers daily.
• Assist in loading and unloading trucks.
• Be responsible for trash and scrap dumpsters.
• Fill in for Shipping/Receiving when that employee is unavailable.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties.
• Operate a forklift and handle in-house shipping duties when not on the road as a trucker.
• Operate vehicles and load and tie down heavy equipment loads in compliance with DOT and general safety standards.
• Fill in for the Shipping and Receiving supervisor during their absence from the department.
