About The Position

The Craftmate Operator operates and troubleshoots Craftmate machines in a beverage manufacturing plant to support efficient, accurate filling and packaging of canned beverages. The role works a 12-hour day shift from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on a rotating schedule of four days on and four days off.

The operator sets up and monitors the Krones and Switchback machines and other assigned Craftmate line stations, performs quality checks, responds to machine issues, and carries out routine cleaning, sanitation, and preventative maintenance. The role also maintains production and maintenance records and is responsible for notifying management of actual or potential food safety issues, with authority to act on issues within the scope of the role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards.
• Basic knowledge of computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Ability to talk and hear; frequently sit and use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, and controls; frequently stand, walk, bend, and reach; and regularly climb and descend stairs.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Required vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience operating Krones and Switchback machines or similar packaging machinery.

Responsibilities

• Set up Krones and Switchback machines for production runs, configuring settings such as can size, filling volume, product type, and packaging type.
• Ensure machines are clean and sanitized as needed before production begins.
• Monitor assigned depalletizer, filler, Switchback, traypack, and palletizer machines during production runs.
• Progress toward competency in operating and troubleshooting each station of the Craftmate line.
• Conduct quality control checks, including visual inspections, fill-level measurements, and checks for proper sealing.
• Identify and resolve machine malfunctions by making minor adjustments, performing basic maintenance, or contacting maintenance personnel for more complex repairs.
• Perform routine cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and preventative maintenance on the can filling machine.
• Maintain accurate production and maintenance records, including production quantities, machine settings, quality checks, and maintenance activities.
• Notify management of actual or potential food safety issues and act to resolve issues within the scope of work.
