About The Position

Sunoco is seeking a Craft Worker to diagnose, maintain, and repair major tractor and trailer components and systems. The role performs repairs and preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers, including brakes, cabs, engines, fifth wheels, transmissions, delivery equipment, suspensions, air conditioning and air systems, clutches, and tires, axles, and wheels. The Craft Worker also performs running repairs, preventive maintenance services, and state and federal inspections on tractors, trailers, and straight trucks.

The position maintains preventive maintenance and repair records, schedules shop work to keep preventive maintenance and inspections on schedule, occasionally provides road service, and oversees repair work performed by outside vendors.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of the listed vehicle systems and components.
• Experience dealing with parts and service vendors.
• Ability to maintain vehicle maintenance records, state inspections, and preventive maintenance scheduling.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, or agreement to obtain them within one year of hire.
• Minimum of three years of experience in heavy truck and trailer maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel engines, brake systems, transmissions, air systems, differentials, and electrical systems.
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on tractor and trailer brakes, cabs, engines, fifth wheels, transmissions, delivery equipment, suspensions, air conditioning and air systems, clutches, and tires, axles, and wheels.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with major components.
• Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance services and repair work.
• Perform occasional road service.
• Schedule shop work to maintain preventive maintenance schedules, scheduled repair work, and state and federal vehicle inspections.
• Oversee repair work performed by outside vendors.
• Perform running repairs, preventive maintenance services, and state and federal inspections on tractors, trailers, and straight trucks.
