About The Position
The Craft Mechanic performs maintenance, inspection, repair, and servicing of Naval Special Warfare surface support craft, rigid‑hull inflatable boats (CRRC), jet skis, and associated maritime equipment. This role directly supports mission readiness by ensuring vessels and propulsion systems are maintained in accordance with OEM guidance and NSW operational requirements. The Craft Mechanic supports both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and works closely with supervisors to maintain high availability of maritime assets.
Requirements
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain installation access credentials
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Compliance with safety, hazmat, and conduct requirements
- Compliance with drugfree workforce standards
- Minimum 3 years maintaining small craft or marine vessels
- Experience with outboard and/or inboard engines
- Knowledge of propulsion, steering, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems
- Experience performing preventative and corrective maritime maintenance
- Experience reading and understanding OEM technical manuals
- Ability to work in marine and waterfront environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined vessel spaces
- Work outdoors in waterfront environments
- Exposure to marine weather conditions, fuels, oils, and noise
- Ability to work on docks, ramps, and vessels afloat or ashore
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair on NSW surface support craft and small boats
- Inspect and service outboard and inboard engines
- Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM schedules
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems
- Support launch, recovery, and trailer maintenance operations
- Document maintenance actions and repairs as required
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of maintenance areas
- Support surge, training, and deployment related maintenance needs
