About The Position

The Python Steering Council and Python Software Foundation (PSF) are hiring a full-time, remote Developer-in-Residence to support CPython, Python’s reference implementation, and the volunteers who develop and maintain it. The role is largely self-directing and involves ongoing coordination with PSF staff, the Steering Council, and the other Developers-in-Residence. It coordinates the Developers-in-Residence team and larger volunteer efforts, administers and moderates Core Team communication channels, and supports the Python Security Response Team and Release Managers. The role also contributes bug fixes and features, supports and mentors contributors, advocates for CPython to potential sponsors, represents the project at events, and publishes regular progress updates. The position reports to the PSF Executive Director and collaborates with the Steering Council. Regular collaboration and some recurring availability in US time zones, including US Eastern time, are required. The role is open to applicants inside and outside the United States. Applicants outside the US will be considered under a contractor arrangement, subject to legal and regulatory eligibility.
