About The Position

S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time CPT Operator - Driller to join our Field Exploration team in Charleston, South Carolina. As a CPT Operator - Driller, you're not just running equipment, you're delivering the critical data that shapes roads, bridges, buildings, and entire communities. You'll lead geotechnical drilling operations using advanced methods like CPT, SCPT, PPDs, DMT, and soil sampling, ensuring engineers have the insights they need to design safe, sustainable, and innovative infrastructure. Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 5 years of drilling experience
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
Advanced understanding of CPT software/data
Knowledge and ability to perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance
Mechanical knowledge related to drilling and heavy equipment

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in geology

Responsibilities

Operate drill rigs with advanced knowledge of the entire fleet of rigs (Track, Truck, Limited access, Overwater)
Oversee and determine the need for equipment maintenance.
Submit data to the Project Manager in an organized and timely manner.
Assure that all drilling functions, including quality control, quality assurance, and verification, are performed per the standard drilling methods, project specifications, and other contract documents.
Coordinate and oversee the daily activities of assigned operator assistants on medium to large projects and communicate field conditions and job progress to management and professional staff daily.
Effectively train and mentor junior-level staff.
