Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional for its CPS Investigations & Assessments Specialist position. The successful candidate will join the Child Protective Services program within the Department of Family Services, which envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field OR a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in a human services area.
Pass pre-employment background checks to include criminal, credit, CPS/APS, and DMV.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
Hold or obtain certifications such as CPR if required for the assigned position.
Obtain specific training, such as CPS/Foster Care/APS state training, as required or desired for the assigned area.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Sociology, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
Knowledge of social services systems for children, families, and adults that reflects trauma-informed and strengths-based philosophy and values.
Knowledge of laws and regulations as applied to assigned areas.
Bilingual skills in Spanish & English.

Responsibilities

Provides emergency crisis intervention and responds to serious allegations of abuse or neglect, including cases involving abuse, human trafficking, and out-of-family investigations.
Conducts comprehensive assessments of children and their families by interviewing children, parents or guardians, and relevant collateral contacts.
Evaluates risk and safety using strengths-based and trauma-informed practices.
Develops safety and service plans to support child wellbeing.
Ensures all work complies with federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and timelines.
