About The Position

The CPR Instructor supports the YMCA’s mission of strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This part-time role provides CPR and First Aid instruction in accordance with American Red Cross standards and engages positively with class participants. The instructor follows the scheduled classes, prepares and cleans up around each class, maintains accurate records in the American Red Cross system, and follows YMCA safety procedures, policies, and emergency protocols. Daytime availability is required.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
Current American Red Cross Instructor Certification.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Sound judgment and ability to transfer learning from one situation to another.
Daytime availability.
Physical ability and stamina to perform the job duties, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness and remain alert while sitting or standing for extended periods in a hot or humid environment.

Responsibilities

Provide CPR and First Aid instruction according to the schedule and American Red Cross standards.
Arrive 10–20 minutes before class and remain afterward for setup and cleanup.
Follow American Red Cross protocols during instruction.
Interact positively with members and class participants.
Adhere to the work schedule and substitute for other instructors when possible.
Enter administrative information accurately into the American Red Cross system.
Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions, and report accidents, incidents, and hazards.
Follow policies, rules, and regulations in the employee handbook and other communications.
Obtain and maintain required training and certifications.
Respond to emergency situations and follow YMCA policies and procedures.
Accept additional assignments appropriate to the scope of the job.
