About The Position

The CPE Resident-Clinical Pastoral Education is a minister in training responsible for providing spiritual care to patients, partners, and team members within the healthcare setting. This role involves participating as a member of the healthcare team to assess spiritual needs and provide interventions under the supervision of a CPE preceptor and educator. The resident will foster a sense of mission, enhance a culture of trust and belonging, and contribute to the hospital and healthcare team's mission. The position also requires active participation in outstanding customer service and maintaining respectful relationships.

Requirements

• Undergrad or master’s degree (done or in process) in the theological or pastoral field or equivalent.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.
• Equivalent degrees that will be considered: Masters or Doctoral degree in nursing, Masters or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Psychology, Masters or Doctoral degree in Social Work.
• Meaningful and comparable ministerial-pastoral experience assessed by the CPE center's admissions committee.
• Personal commitment to God.
• Personal integrity, emotional stability, sound physical health, and an ability to work under stress.
• Effectively relates to persons of diverse religious, educational, and cultural backgrounds.
• Demonstrates ability to earn respect of nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Nice To Haves

• Congregational pastoral experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual care to primary customers, partners, and team members.
• Participate as a member of the healthcare team in evaluating spiritual needs of patients.
• Provide appropriate interventions to meet spiritual needs under supervision.
• Foster a sense of mission that enhances a culture of trust, experience of belonging, and a sense of mission within the hospital and the healthcare team.
• Actively participate in outstanding customer service.
• Accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
