About The Position

Performs tasks to decontaminate, prepare and package medical – surgical supplies. Unloads, sorts and picks up linen from semi-trailer and delivers to departments. Completes sterilization procedures, monitors processed storage and distribution of medical – surgical supplies to various areas. The Sterile Processing Technician II ( SPT ) provides hospital and affiliated facilities with processed materials and equipment by executing established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization. Maintains efficient flow of processing procedures, through appropriate case set-up, anticipation of health care provider requests and patient care needs.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Graduate from a sterile processing program
• 1 year of experience in Sterile Processing department
• One year of general work experience
• Certification in Central Sterile Processing
• Membership in Central Sterile Processing Professional Organization

Responsibilities

• Assembles instruments correctly, ensuring appropriate cleanliness and function is achieved.
• Prepares instruments for sterilization through proper packaging, rigid container system, and wrapping techniques.
• Sterilizes instruments by correctly loading carts and operating sterilizers (Steam Sterilizer and Low Temperature).
• Maintains efficient flow of processing procedures, through appropriate case cart set-up, anticipation of health care provider requests and patient care needs.
• Decontaminate, prepare and package medical – surgical supplies.
• Unload, sort and pick up linen from semi-trailer and deliver to departments.
• Complete sterilization procedures, monitor processed storage and distribution of medical – surgical supplies to various areas.
