CPCC EMT Student

Mecklenburg EMS Careers•Charlotte, NC

About The Position

This scholarship program provides training through Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) for applicants pursuing EMT employment with Medic. Classes begin January 19, 2027. Students receive a $17-per-hour stipend for class attendance and a full scholarship covering tuition, fees, books, and uniforms. After successful course completion and satisfaction of Medic’s hiring requirements, graduates are placed in full-time EMT positions with Medic and transition to a minimum rate of $21.64 per hour. Agency Performance Pay may provide up to $3,000 annually, with promotional opportunities that include pay increases. The course includes 248 hours of Tuesday/Thursday evening classes and every-other-Saturday classes, plus 48 hours of clinical training or ride time. Students must meet attendance and academic standards, complete the required training, and obtain an NC EMT credential. Entry into the CPCC program requires an interview and selection process, including an ambulance ride-along, a panel interview, and basic testing and/or a homework assignment. Applicants must submit a resume, cover letter, and official academic transcript by October 30, 2026. Employment after the course is contingent on successful completion of required screening and credentialing. Continued employment requires maintaining insurability, completing mandatory training and fit testing, and meeting the position’s physical, operational, and conduct requirements. The role may involve holidays, nights, weekends, callback, and overtime. Scholarship recipients are expected to work full time for Medic for at least one year after graduation and certification. Medic may seek reimbursement of scholarship payments if a recipient leaves the program without good reason or does not fulfill the service obligation; no repayment is due after completing both the program and service obligation.
