We are seeking multiple individuals who bring energy, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility to join our team as Courtroom Judicial Assistants (salary range 12) with the Anchorage In-Court Civil Division. These positions are the heart of courtroom operations and play a critical role in keeping everything running smoothly across all levels of the Trial Court. Under the guidance of In-Court Supervisors, you’ll be responsible for capturing high-quality written and electronic records of court proceedings and supporting judges, jurors, attorneys, and the public in a wide variety of ways. In the courtroom, you’ll be setting the stage—literally! You’ll organize the courtroom each day, test and operate various audio and visual equipment, and troubleshoot anything that goes sideways. You’ll call the court to order, administer oaths, log proceedings in real time using electronic recording systems, and help manage exhibits with care and accuracy. You’ll coordinate jurors and occasionally take on bailiff duties, guiding everyone with a calm and professional demeanor. Outside the courtroom, your work is just as important. You’ll finalize and organize case files, process orders and judgments, safely store exhibits, and ensure that everything flows to the right departments. You’ll help maintain courtroom materials like statutes and codes, assist other divisions when needed, and even travel to offsite locations or jail courts when required. Flexibility is key, and you should be prepared for occasional overtime.
